Fitness Advice That You Will Really Use

Unfortunately, good intentions will not help you to get into shape! You have to be physically active to reap benefits. There is so much information available on the subject of fitness. Here are some suggestions that others have found helpful to become or stay fit:

Even if you don’t feel like working out on a given day, at least try for five or ten minutes. You might find that once you get going, you can do more than that. Even if you don’t gain a second wind, a few minutes is better than nothing at all.

To improve the effectiveness of your stretches, adjust the amount of time you hold your stretches to account for your age. Why? As you age, your muscles lose pliability, so you need to spend more time stretching them. The recommended duration for people under 40 years old is 30 seconds, while people over 40 years old should hold stretches for twice as long.

Feel like you don’t have enough time a day to workout? Separate workouts into 2 sessions. Don’t increase the duration of your workout, just do it in two portions. You can jog for half an hour when you get up and half an hour when you get home from work instead of running one complete hour. You can split a gym workout into one workout in the gym and one outdoors, if making two trips to the gym doesn’t fit your daily schedule.

Don’t put all of your efforts into doing only crunches when working out abdominal muscles. Through university studies, it has been shown that 250,000 crunches only burns a pound of fat. So crunches alone won’t help you build abs or lose fat. Work at developing your abdominal muscles in other types of exercise as well.

Track everything you do throughout each day. Write down your exercise, foods, drinks – all of it. Even write down the weather for the day. This will help you monitor the things that affect how much you exercise. When you can’t exercise on a day, be sure to record why not.

Pack a lunch and eat in the park instead of eating out. Not only will you get some fresh air and sunshine, but you’ll undoubtedly consume healthier foods. The fact that you walk to the park for your lunch has the added benefit of giving you a much needed break and a little bit of exercise!

When pursuing your fitness goals, you should aim to strengthen your back. Your back is one of the largest muscles in your upper body. You do not need to neglect working it out because if you do not, you are bound to injure it. Perform pullups and lat pulldowns to increase the strength of your back.

Hopefully, with the information you just read, you will be equipped to maintain or become physically fit! There is so much information on the subject of fitness. Apply the suggestions that fit your lifestyle. Stick to it! Remember, good intentions will not get into shape! You have to work for it! But, the benefits are worth it!
